Christine M. LaCasse

Tough lawyer. Compassionate person.

Born and raised in the Outaouais, Christine has over twenty (20) years' experience representing accident victims and their families. Fluently bilingual, Christine handles all types of personal injury claims including motor vehicle accidents, wrongful death claims, slip and fall accidents, waterpark and amusement park accidents, disability claims, assault claims, historical abuse claims, etc.

Christine cares. She cares about her clients' physical and mental health, the quality of her work, and obtaining for her injured clients and their families the highest possible financial awards or settlements. Christine understands that accident victims need to devote all of their energy towards their rehabilitation efforts and to coping with pain and their changed circumstances. Dealing with paperwork and the red tape associated with insurance claims is frequently overwhelming for injured persons. Having worked both for and against insurance companies, Christine knows how to navigate the complex world of insurance and has no difficulty viewing both sides of a dispute.

In April 2010, Christine was appointed a Deputy Judge of the Ontario Small Claims Court, where she presides over a wide range of civil disputes, including personal injury and insurance matters. Christine brings to her law practice the same pragmatic, balanced and reasonable approach she brings to the Small Claims Court bench.

For the past two decades, Christine has advocated on behalf of clients in a broad range of practices areas including family law, child protection, and civil litigation. From 2000 to 2015, Christine also represented various Children's Aid Societies, primarily in appellate matters. Commencing in 2013, Christine supplemented her busy personal injury practice with insurance defence work in the areas of bodily injury, school board liability and professional liability.

Over the years, Christine has honed her negotiation and conflict resolution skills practicing family law, attending hundreds of mediations, presiding over several hundred Settlement Conferences as a Deputy Judge and, most recently, by completing the Advanced Alternative Dispute Resolution Workshop offered by Stitt Feld Handy Group in association with the University of Windsor. While most personal injury cases eventually settle, Christine has no qualms taking cases to trial where fair settlements cannot be achieved.

Originaire de l'Outaouais, Me Christine LaCasse représente les victimes d'accidents et leurs familles depuis plus de vingt (20) ans. Parfaitement bilingue, la pratique de Me LaCasse est vouée presqu'exclusivement aux litiges civils portant sur les blessures corporelles. Ayant œuvré pour et contre les compagnies d'assurance, Me LaCasse peut naviguer le domaine complexe de l'assurance avec aisance et n'a aucune difficulté à comprendre les deux côtés d'une dispute.

Me LaCasse a à cœur non seulement les intérêts financiers de ses clients et clientes lésées, mais aussi leur santé physique et mentale. Elle comprend que les personnes gravement blessées doivent consacrer tous leurs efforts à leur réadaptation physique et psychologique. La gestion de la documentation qui suit nécessairement un accident est trop souvent accablante pour une victime d'accident aux prises avec la douleur, la dépression et l'anxiété.

Me LaCasse plaide devant les tribunaux aussi bien en français qu'en anglais, la moitié de ses clients étant francophones.

Me LaCasse a étudié en français à l'Université d'Ottawa où elle a obtenu un baccalauréat en administration en 1991 (cum laude) et un baccalauréat en droit (LL.B.) en 1995 (magna cum laude). Depuis son admission au Barreau de l'Ontario en 1997, Me LaCasse a œuvré dans de nombreux domaines, y compris le droit de la famille, la protection de l'enfance et le litige civil. De 2000 à 2015, elle a aussi agi en tant qu'avocate pour plusieurs Sociétés de l'aide à l'enfance, principalement en matière d'appel.

En 2010, Me LaCasse a été nommée Juge suppléante de la Cour des petites créances de l'Ontario (Ottawa), où elle préside sur toutes sortes de disputes civiles, y compris en matière d'assurances, d'accidents, de contrats, d'emploi, de diffamation, etc.

En 2016, Me LaCasse a complété un cours avancé sur les modes alternatifs de résolution de conflit offert par Stitt Feld Handy Group et l'Université de Windsor, et elle offre maintenant ses services en tant que médiatrice dans le domaine civil.
